Introducing the #Walk500 challenge

As we are now in the second phase of lockdown, we thought it would be a great idea to have a team challenge to help keep us fit; support our mental health and at the same time, in a small way to support either a charity of your choice or NHS Together and Mind, which we have selected as a company.

Proclaim Group’s anthem has always been The Proclaimers song ‘I’m Gonna Be (500 miles)’, so appropriately we’ve come up with the #Walk500 Team Challenge.

We’re trying to keep this simple and flexible and within the government guidelines

The challenge is for:

•         Teams of 5 (more if you wish or less for the runners and cyclists!)

•         Teams can be colleagues, friends; family, and the family pets are included!

•         Over 10 weeks, to hopefully take us out of lockdown

•         To walk 500 miles

This equates to 1.4 miles per day per person or 30 minutes walking. (Or feel free to remain within your garden!). Remote team walking another new experience to remember for years to come.

We are starting the challenge the week of Monday 27th April and looking to finish on week of 4th July, however teams can enter at any time. Hopefully as lockdown relaxes, we will be able to do a few miles extra per day if we need to catch up.

If you want to take part please pick your team members, chose a team name and send it and the team members through to walk500@proclaim-care.co.uk we will lift your team on to the dedicated page on our website.

There is no entrance fee as such, we just ask that you make a contribution, or arrange some sponsorship for a charity of your choice, or go to our virgin money giving page at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/ProclaimCare to donate to the charities we are supporting - NHS Together and MIND.  If you don’t want to take part but would like to make a donation, that would be very much appreciated.

Get creative and let’s see how many people we can get involved.

Please feel free to share the challenge.

Keep safe; keep strong; keep walking and keep singing…  “I will walk 500 miles….”
